Every employee is entitled to an assessment of their skills, strengths, development and potential, at least once a year. Managers and employees map out career objectives, putting plans into action.

Training includes:

  • A full suite of core competency training and specialized training in environmental, safety and operations excellence
  • An Education Assistance Program, which reimburses up to 100 percent of course fees, textbook costs and other eligible costs

Employee Wellness

We have a long-term commitment to creating an environment of positive health habits, both physical and mental. Balance between work and family is important. We provide flex-time arrangements to allow people the opportunity to balance the many demands on their time.

Our confidential Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) helps employees and family members identify and understand sources of personal difficulties and develop necessary coping strategies.

Annual Vacation

  • Full-time Newalta employees begin employment with us with three weeks of vacation in their first year
  • Additional vacation at five and 10 years’ service milestones
  • In their 10th year and beyond, our people have five weeks’ vacation
