Mr. Lewis started with us in the Calgary corporate office in 2004. He was formerly with The Uniglobe Group where he was in charge of corporate communications for the Vancouver-based international travel management company. Prior to that Mr. Lewis was with Westcoast Energy in public affairs and communications. His experience with brand awareness with these major Canadian companies has been a welcome addition to our team. Mr. Lewis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia. He is a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society's Calgary Chapter.
Mr. Suddaby joined Newalta in 1997. He has brought over 20 years experience in process design, engineering and capital management. As Executive Director of Engineering he is responsible for developing and implementing major capital projects, process optimization and technical support to operations. Prior to joining Newalta, he gained management and engineering experience with Laidlaw Environmental Services, Tricil Limited and Dupont Canada Incorporated. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Chemical Engineering from Queen's University. Mr. Suddaby is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta and a member of the Professional Engineers Ontario.
Ms. Rudnitski is the Executive Director of EHS for Newalta’s operations. She has been with Newalta since 2004 and has 11 years of experience in the waste management industry, previously with Canadian Waste Services Inc., Laidlaw Environmental Services, and E.I.L. Environmental Services. Ms. Rudnitski earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta. She has completed the Occupational Health and Safety Certificate program from Ryerson University and several graduate level courses in Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta. She is President of the Environmental Services Association of Alberta.
Ms. Sweeney joined Newalta in 2006 from Harvest Energy Trust in Calgary where she had been Manager of Corporate Finance. Previous to that, she was Manager of Financial Reporting with Viking Energy Royalty Trust where she managed financial reporting, corporate continuous disclosure and played pivotal roles in both prospectuses and plan of arrangements development. Ms. Sweeney oversees and is responsible for numerous aspects of Newalta's corporate finances, and is a key contributor to Newalta's Corporate Financial Team. She earned a Bachelor degree of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Calgary, and obtained her Chartered Accountant designation. She is an active member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Mr. MacNaughton joined Newalta in 2009 and brings more than 20 years of diverse banking, treasury and financial advisory experience with a number of different financial institutions to his role as Executive Director - Treasury. He is responsible for leading the treasury group and partnering with Newalta's corporate financial team to strategically develop and deliver long term capital and treasury solutions to the organization. Mr. MacNaughton holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan.
Mr. Todd leads the planning group focusing on business development, budgeting, forecasting, system implementation as well as management reporting. Since joining Newalta in late 1999, he has held progressively more senior positions within the company. Prior to Newalta he spent eight years in financial accounting for Coca Cola Australia. He has a Certified Practicing Accounting Australia designation as well as a Bachelor of Business degree.
Mr. Oldershaw joined Newalta in 2006, bringing his extensive expertise in the areas of financial analysis and reporting, the evaluation of internal controls systems and process review. He is responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, business process improvements, internal control compliance and governance process. Previously he was a Director of Corporate Analysis with Newalta and was responsible for reporting processes and external reporting. Prior to joining Newalta, he was a Senior Manager at Ernst & Young LLP. Mr. Oldershaw is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Administration degree from the University of Regina.
Mr. Granger joined Newalta in 2013. He is focused on market research, analysis and forecasting of select industry sectors and markets such as heavy oil, U.S., conventional oil and gas, and used oil recycling. Prior to joining Newalta, he was with BMO Capital Markets as Vice President, Equity Research Analyst for Transportation and Industrials. Mr. Granger has an extensive background in equity research, capital markets, business valuation, and financial analysis. He holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and a BBA from Simon Fraser University. He also has a Chartered Accountant designation and is a CFA charterholder.
Mr. LeBlanc leads the continuous development of Human Resources focusing on leadership, talent development, succession planning and employee attraction, integration and engagement strategies. With more than 20 years of senior human resources experience, he has successfully supported organizations to further their growth and business requirements including large-scale start-ups, expansions and operational improvements. Prior to joining Newalta, Mr. LeBlanc was the Vice President, Human Resources for Cooke Aquaculture Inc. located in New Brunswick.
Ms. Friesen joined Newalta in 2004 from Deloitte & Touche in Calgary where she had been Director, Human Resources. Prior to that she was in Human Resources with BOVAR Inc. Her industry knowledge and her experience developing programs to emphasize career growth and performance enhancement make her a perfect fit for Newalta. Ms. Friesen holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and has obtained her Canadian Human Resources Professional designation.
Mr. Godsman oversees the search and development of new technologies and processes that have commercial uses. Prior to joining Newalta in 2008, he gained experience as the Chairman of the Terra Group, as President of Valiant Environmental and in various positions with Laidlaw Environmental Services and ECL Environmental Services. Mr. Godsman has more than 20 years of environmental solutions experience both in Canada and internationally.
Mr. Deschênes joined Newalta in 2011 as Regional Manager for our Ville Ste-Catherine lead recycling facility in Quebec. As General Manager, he is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of Ville Ste-Catherine Facility as well as the commercial aspects related to feed stock and lead sales Mr. Deschênes brings more than 20 years of experience in the metallurgical industry having held several senior positions with various steel companies primarily in operations. Mr. Deschênes is a registered Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Metallurgical Engineering from Laval University, as well as an Executive MBA from the University of Montreal.
Ms. Chung is responsible for managing the industrial facilities in B.C., including Newalta's state-of-the-art used oil re-refinery in North Vancouver. The North Vancouver Facility has been a multiple winner of Newalta President's Safety Award, due to its focus on keeping the highest safety standards. She joined Newalta in 2003 and has over 25 years of engineering, operating and management experience with a focus on oil processing. Prior to joining Newalta Ms. Chung held numerous positions with increasing responsibility with Petro-Canada (now Suncor). She has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of British Columbia and is a Registered Professional Engineer in British Columbia. Ms. Chung is a Director with the British Columbia Environmental Industry Association (BCEIA) and is the chair of the Hazardous Waste Committee.
Mr. Jovanovic oversees Ontario Facilities, Landfill and Transport operations. As a member of the Industrial leadership team, he plays a key role in setting and delivering the goals and objectives of the division's operations. Mr. Jovanovic has over 25 years of operations and regulatory management experience in the waste management industry. He is a registered Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo, as well as a Masters of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from McMaster University in Hamilton.
Since he joined Newalta in 1995, Mr. Pippard has been instrumental in directing Newalta’s commitment to health, safety and the environment. He brings a disciplined focus emphasizing continuous improvement and promoting industry best practices. As General Manager in Atlantic Canada, he is responsible for overseeing the Industrial operations in the region. After earning a diploma in Petroleum Engineering Technology in 1984, Mr. Pippard spent 11 years with the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board as a Senior Inspector.
Mr. Smith brings over 20 years of sales and management experience in the industrial waste management industry to his role. He is responsible for driving the development of key customer partnerships and new onsite contracts in the Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada regions. This includes exploring design, build and operate solutions for customers. His key areas of focus are the mining and refinery and petrochemical industries. Prior to joining Newalta in 2006, Mr. Smith's experience was developed through positions with companies such as Clean Harbors Canada, Safety-Kleen Canada, Laidlaw Environmental Services and Tricil Ltd. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo.
Mr. Gendron is General Manager for Newalta's Industrial facilities in Quebec. He has more than 20 years of experience in market development, including more than 14 years in the environmental services industry, and has held senior positions with Safety-Kleen Inc. Mr. Gendron holds a degree in business management from HEC.
Mr. Deschenes manages onsite projects in the Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada regions. In his role, Mr. Deschenes is responsible for efficient resource management of our equipment and our people to ensure seamless operations throughout our onsite network. He joined Newalta in 2011 with an extensive background in waste management and onsite solutions for customers in Quebec. His specialty is managing dredging and dewatering services in the municipal market and he is responsible for expanding this service line in mining and other markets throughout Eastern Canada.
Mr. Cyr has been with Newalta since 1994 and leads the IT Team responsible for the development and implementation of Newalta's IT strategy and IT operations throughout the organization. Mr. Cyr has more than eighteen years experience in information technologies, as well as a background in accounting management with Laidlaw Environmental Services Ltd. and Tricil Ltd. His strong knowledge of enterprise systems and their ability to support business activities has provided the foundation for Newalta's core systems today. Mr. Cyr assumed his current position in 2007 after recently completing the successful implementation of SAP throughout the organization. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario.
Ms. Plasterer is the Executive Director, Investor Relations and started with us in the Calgary office in 2006. She was formerly with BFI Canada Income Fund where she was in charge of investor and employee relations for the Toronto-based waste management company. Prior to that, Ms. Plasterer provided IR consulting services to multiple clients for Ciris International and she spent time overseas as part of the Investor Relations team at HSBC Investment Bank in London, England. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria. She has completed the Canadian Securities Course and is a member of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute.
Ms. Lewis joined Newalta in 2011 bringing with her almost 10 years of experience in the legal field. A valuable addition to Newalta's legal team, Ms. Lewis contributes her knowledge and expertise in securities law, corporate governance, corporate financings, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining Newalta, Ms. Lewis practiced corporate and securities law at a leading Calgary law firm. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Calgary.
Mr. Swanke joined Newalta in 2013 as General Manager, United States, based in Denver, Colorado. Using his extensive sales and operations experience in the oil and gas and chemical industries, Mr. Swanke oversees the operations group and ensures that Newalta's growth plan is executed efficiently. A proven leader, Mr. Swanke has held several management positions, including VP Sales of Strad Energy Services Ltd. and U.S. Sales Manager of Newpark Resources, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Mr. Seath joined Newalta in 2013, bringing with him more than 35 years of sales and operations experience in the equipment, construction and rental industries where he was responsible for strategic growth, innovation and customer relationships. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Mr. Seath is responsible for the development and execution of Newalta's Heavy Oil growth plan which will further develop the New Markets division. Prior to joining Newalta, Mr. Seath held senior leadership positions at RSC Equipment Rental, The Cat Rental Store and Finning (Canada) Ltd. He studied Marketing Management, Sales, Distribution and Marketing Operations at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
Mr. Erickson assumed his role as General Manager after two years as Regional Manager, Northern Operations in the Western Division. He focuses on maximizing market opportunities consistent with business plan objectives. In previous roles at Newalta, Mr. Erickson led teams as District Manager, Saskatchewan and District Manager, Central Alberta. He joined Newalta in 1994 and brings a unique business acumen grounded in operational skills which has driven strategic growth.
Mr. Raiman has held progressively responsible analytical and operational positions since joining Newalta in 2004. He is focused on the successful delivery of business plan results by capitalizing on market opportunities and trends. Prior to joining Mr. Raiman has held various technical, production, logistics and operational leadership positions within the South African gold and uranium and downstream oil and gas industries. He is a registered Professional Engineer (Engineering Council of South Africa), holds a Government Certificate of Competency (Mines), a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Cape Town and a Certificate in Labor Law from the University of Natal.
Mr. Majid has 23 years of sales and marketing management, operational leadership and product management experience. With a customer-focused approach, Mr. Majid delivers effective client-based solutions that concentrate on value creation. Prior to joining Newalta in 2012, Mr. Majid was Manager of Business Development & Acquisitions at Kinder Morgan. He is an economics graduate of Queen's University and has completed training through the Schulich School of Business, Richard Ivey School of Business and Kellogg School of Management.
Mr. LaCaprara joined Newalta with almost 15 years of experience in the mining, oil and gas, and renewable energy sectors where he was successful in developing turnkey solutions for his customers. In doing so, he has consistently acquired major contracts throughout his career, resulting in significant business growth. Mr. LaCaprara was Director within the Renewable Energy Division at Siemens before joining Newalta in 2012. He holds an MBA from the University of Toronto and studied Electrical Engineering at Ryerson University.
Mr. Clark joined Newalta in 2004 and brought with him extensive experience in Sales and Marketing roles on both a regional and national level. As Executive Director, Marketing and Strategic Partnerships, Mr. Clark analyses market opportunities, researches potential partners and suppliers, and oversees the contracts process for the New Markets Division. Mr. Clark's expertise in customer relationship building and his in-depth knowledge of centrifuge markets has enabled Newalta to penetrate markets and secure key accounts. Prior to joining Newalta, Mr. Clark was employed with Turbo, a subsidiary of Shell Canada Ltd., and TELUS Mobility.
Mr. Portelance joined Newalta in 2010 and is accountable for the development and implementation of sales and marketing strategy for Newalta's Oil Recycling Services ("ORS"), including oversight of Newalta's "Advanta ECO" brand of base oils and lubricants. He has 16 years of experience with Shell in numerous positions including brand manager for Pennzoil and Quaker State brands and most recently as marketing manager - Americas for Shell Bitumen. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from McGill University and is chair of the sub-committee on research for NORA, an association of responsible recyclers.
Since he joined Newalta in 1993, Mr. Dawe has been integral to the day-to-day management and growth of Newalta's operations. He assumed his role as Executive Director, Technical Development in 2011 and is responsible for overseeing both Technical Development in Western Canada and the corporate Engineering group. His experience and operational discipline have been developed through various engineering and management positions with Alcan, Tricil Ltd. and Laidlaw Environmental Services Ltd. prior to joining Newalta. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta.
