Richard Korzeniewski Mr. Korzeniewski is responsible for identifying, evaluating and executing acquisition strategies and expansion opportunities. He rejoined Newalta in 2010 as Executive Director, Business Development after managing a start up bio-fuel Company. Prior to that he was Director, Business Development with Newalta where he was involved with the Company's acquisition initiatives. Mr. Korzeniewsi brings to Newalta a broad background in capital markets, corporate finance and valuation analysis. Prior to Newalta, capital market roles included positions with CIBC Wood Gundy and Jennings Capital Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business (University of Western Ontario). As well, he holds the designations of Chartered Financial Analyst, Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant.
Bevan Howell
Mr. Howell joined Newalta in 2006 after working for over nine years in progressively responsible operational, analytical and business development positions within the oil and gas and Capital Investment
Robbin Dawe Since he joined Newalta in 1993, Mr. Dawe has been integral to the day-to-day management and growth of Newalta's operations. He assumed his role as Executive Director, Capital Investment Management in 2008 and is responsible for providing focus and emphasis required for the capital planning activities of the organization. His experience and operational discipline have been developed through various engineering and management positions with Alcan, Tricil Ltd. and Laidlaw Environmental Services Ltd. prior to joining Newalta. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta.
Marina Franco Ms. Franco joined Newalta in 2008 from Flextronics Canada Inc. Her more than 25 years of experience with Nortel Networks Ltd. and Flextronics Canada Inc., is a perfect fit for developing Newalta's national purchasing programs. Ms. Franco holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honors from Lakehead University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary. She holds Professional Purchasing Certification in Canada and the United States. Communications
Stephen Lewis Mr. Lewis is the Executive Director, Corporate Communications and started with us in the Calgary office in 2004. He was formerly with The Uniglobe Group where he was in charge of corporate communications for the Vancouver-based international travel management company. Prior to that Mr. Lewis was with Westcoast Energy in public affairs and communications. His focus on brand awareness with these major Canadian companies has been a welcome addition to our team. Mr. Lewis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia. He is a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society's Calgary Chapter.
Greg Jones Mr. Jones is Director, Communications for Newalta. Based in the Burlington office, he is responsible for internal and external communications strategy, counsel and program delivery. Mr. Jones joined Newalta in 2007 after 10 years of communications consulting having worked in increasingly senior roles with two international public relations firms in Toronto. He has provided strategic counsel, planning and management on a wide range of communications and marketing programs for blue-chip clients across various industry sectors, including a focus on environmental management issues. Mr. Jones is a graduate of the Institute for Crisis Management in Louisville, KY; holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario; and received his post-graduate certificate in public relations from Toronto's Humber College. Jim Suddaby Mr. Suddaby joined Newalta in 1997. He has brought over 20 years experience in process design, engineering and capital management. As Executive Director of Engineering he is responsible for developing and implementing major capital projects, process optimization and technical support to operations. Prior to joining Newalta, he gained management and engineering experience with Laidlaw Environmental Services, Tricil Limited and Dupont Canada Incorporated. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Chemical Engineering from Queen's University. Dan Pippard Since he joined Newalta in 1995, Mr. Pippard has been instrumental in directing Newalta’s commitment to health, safety and the environment. He brings a disciplined focus emphasizing continuous improvement and promoting industry best practices. As Executive Director, EH&S, he is responsible for the development and advancement of EH&S programs on a national basis. After earning a diploma in Petroleum Engineering Technology in 1984, Mr. Pippard spent eleven years with the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board as a Senior Inspector.
Rhonda Rudnitski Ms. Rudnitski is the Director of EHS for Newalta’s Western Canada operations. She has been with Newalta since 2004 and has 11 years of experience in the waste management industry, previously with Canadian Waste Services Inc., Laidlaw Environmental Services, and E.I.L. Environmental Services. Ms. Rudnitski earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta. She has completed the Occupational Health and Safety Certificate program from Ryerson University and several graduate level courses in Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta. Troy McElgunn Mr. McElgunn is Senior Business Manager for Western Canada and is a key member of the Western Facilities leadership team. Since joining Newalta in 1987, he has demonstrated proven and effective operational management and leadership. Mr. McElgunn has progressively held more senior positions within the Company, and now oversees all aspects of the business. He is responsible for all fixed facilities, industrial onsite and SAGD operations. Prior to joining us, he held supervisory and management positions with Tuboscope, Precision Waste Management and Anadime Corporation. His wealth of market knowledge and technical expertise has enabled Newalta to further diversify its oilfield business while optimizing financial performance.
Kendall Erickson Mr. Erickson assumed his role as General Manager, Northern Business Unit after two years as Regional Manager, Northern Operations in the Western Division. He focuses on maximizing market opportunities consistent with business plan objectives. In previous roles at Newalta, Mr. Erickson led teams as District Manager, Saskatchewan and District Manager, Central Alberta. He joined Newalta in 1994 and brings a unique business acumen grounded in operational skills which has driven strategic growth.
Drew Godsman Mr. Godsman is General Manager of the Southern Business Unit and is a key member of the Western Division's leadership team. Prior to joining Newalta in 2008, he gained experience as the Chairman of the Terra Group, President of Valiant Environmental and various positions with Laidlaw Environmental Services and ECL Environmental Services. Mr. Godsman has over 20 years of environmental solutions experience both in Canada and internationally. His wealth of experience and enthusiasm will build on the foundation laid in Newalta's Southern Business Unit. Mr. Godsman is Newalta's representative for the Alberta Ecotrust Foundation. Mark Rutledge Mr. Rutledge is responsible for all operations in Ontario and Atlantic in his role as Senior Business Manager. He plays a pivotal role in developing and executing the long-term business strategy in these operations. He rejoined Newalta in 2006 as Executive Director, Business Development after spending three years with Methanex Corporation overseeing contract negotiations, pricing strategies and key account relations. Previous to that, he was Newalta's National Sales and Marketing Manager where he managed the Company's sales group, marketing initiatives and customer service responsibilities. Mr. Rutledge has over 20 years of experience in the chemical and waste management industry sectors. Quebec
Guy Adam Mr. Adam brings more than 25 years of experience and market knowledge in the industrial waste management business to Newalta. He joined the Company in 2006 to expand business into eastern Canada and to oversee operations in Quebec. Prior to joining Newalta, he was with Clean Harbors Inc. where he managed the Canadian operations. He has also held management positions with CIL, Tricil Ltd., Laidlaw Inc., and Safety Kleen Canada. Mr. Adam has a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Montreal. He is on the Board of the CESE and a member of the CPEQ which are the two primary associations representing the environmental management industry in Quebec.
Pierre Gendron Mr. Gendron is Regional Manager for Newalta's facilities and industrial cleaning activities in Quebec. He has more than 20 years of experience in market development, including more than 14 years in the environmental services industry, and has held senior positions with Safety-Kleen Inc. Mr. Gendron holds a degree in business management from HEC.
Guylaine Gemme Ms. Gemme had extensive experience in manufacturing activities for 30 years, including 25 years in the metal recycling industry, when she became Regional Manager of the Ville Ste.Catherine facility. Prior to joining Newalta, she held different positions with Nova Pb, Preussag Metal, Delvista Construction and John Lewis Industries Ltd. in financial and management accounting, tax management, treasury management, risks management and information technologies. Ms. Gemme holds a Master in Business Administration from University of Sherbrooke and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from University of Quebec. She is a member of CGA Quebec and CGA Canada since 1987. Finance
Linda Dietsche Ms. Dietsche joined Newalta in 2003 as Assistant Controller focused on corporate accounting after working with Calgary’s Mount Royal College and Ogilvy and Mather in progressively responsible accounting positions. She became Executive Director and Controller in 2009. She provides leadership and oversees the corporate accounting group on a national basis and is responsible for corporate reporting, development and implementation of taxation strategy, and the provision of Newalta financial statements for regulatory reporting purposes. She has obtained her Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Royal Roads University.
Danielle Sweeney Ms. Sweeney joined Newalta in 2006 from Harvest Energy Trust in Calgary where she had been Manager of Corporate Finance. Previous to that, she was Manager of Financial Reporting with Viking Energy Royalty Trust where she managed financial reporting, corporate continuous disclosure and played pivotal roles in both prospectuses and plan of arrangements development. Mrs. Sweeney oversees and is responsible for numerous aspects of Newalta’s corporate finances, and is a key contributor to Newalta’s Corporate Financial Team. She earned a Bachelor degree of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Calgary, and obtained her Chartered Accountant designation. She is an active member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Cam MacNaughton Mr. MacNaughton joined Newalta in 2009 and brings more than 20 years of diverse banking, treasury and financial advisory experience with a number of different financial institutions to his role as Executive Director - Treasury. He is responsible for leading the treasury group and partnering with Newalta's corporate financial team to strategically develop and deliver long term capital and treasury solutions to the organization. Mr. MacNaughton holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan.
Jonathan Baskeyfield Mr. Baskeyfield joined Newalta in 2008 bringing with him extensive experience in Canadian and International Taxes. He is responsible for developing effective tax planning strategies and policies together with ensuring strong reporting and compliance processes for our U.S. and Canadian operations. Previously, he was in various tax management positions in the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Calgary with KPMG, primarily focused on domestic and international corporate taxes. Mr. Baskeyfield attained his tax designation in the United Kingdom and completed the CICA In-Depth Tax Program in Canada. He is also a member of the Tax Executives Institute.
Linda Cleroux Ms. Cleroux joined Newalta in 2007 and is Director, Finance for the Eastern Division. With more than 20 years' experience managing finance, IT and customer service departments, she provides leadership to the accounting group in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. Bilingual, Ms. Cleroux has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Western Ontario Richard Ivey School Of Business, a Business Diploma from Canadore College, and her Certified General Accounting (CGA) designation. She is the spokesperson for the CGA Association of Ontario and participates in various fund-raising activities supporting children's sports.
Chantal Barchard Ms. Barchard joined Newalta in 2008 from the Alberta Securities Commission where she gained extensive experience in the areas of financial analysis, policy development and process review. As Director, Finance, Corporate, she is responsible for providing finance and accounting leadership to corporate operations. Prior to joining Newalta, she held a number of senior financial positions focused on internal controls and reporting. Ms. Barchard earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of New Brunswick and obtained her Chartered Accountant designation. She is on the Board of the YWCA of Calgary and chairs their Finance & Audit Committee.
Fiona Dougherty Ms. Dougherty joined Newalta in 2009 from Enbridge in Calgary where she gained extensive experience in the areas of financial analysis and reporting. As Director, Planning & Analysis Corporate, she is responsible for the forecasting and performance reporting processes. She earned a Bachelor of Administration degree from the University of Regina, Masters of Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan and obtained her Chartered Accountant designation. As an active member of the Haskayne School of Business Mentorship Program, Ms Dougherty enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with the next generation of business professionals.
Steve Chorney Mr. Chorney is Director, Business Plans and Budgets providing leadership in the business and budgeting process for Corporate activities. He joined Newalta in 2006 with a broad spectrum of business experience with a national perspective. Formerly Newalta's Sales and Marketing manager for Western Canada, he played a pivotal role in developing comprehensive and consistent sales processes, providing sales leadership, and overseeing sales, marketing and customer service. Prior to joining Newalta, Mr. Chorney was employed with Imperial Oil for more than 10 years. He has a Bachelor of Commerce with distinction from the University of Alberta.
Mark Oldershaw Mr. Oldershaw joined Newalta in 2006, bringing his extensive experience in the areas of financial analysis and reporting, the evaluation of internal control systems, and process review and enhancement. As Director of Risk and Internal Control, he is responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance process across the organization. Previously he was the Director of Corporate Analysis and was responsible for forecasting and performance reporting processes and external reporting. Prior to joining Newalta, he was a Senior Manager in the assurance practice at Ernst & Young LLP, serving clients in a number of industries, including: oil & gas, telecommunications and government organizations. Mr. Oldershaw holds a Bachelor of Administration degree from the University of Regina and has his Chartered Accountant designation.
Adonis Palomino Mr. Palomino is a Director, Finance providing oversight and direction to the Western Canadian finance teams. He joined Newalta in 2003 to provide finance and accounting leadership to the Industrial business unit. Since joining Newalta Mr. Palomino has demonstrated strong managerial expertise within multiple departments of the organization. Prior to joining Newalta, he held controller positions for Wireless Matrix Corp. and Advantage Sales and Marketing Group. He holds his Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation. Robert Redhead Mr. Redhead is Executive Director of Government Affairs for Newalta, responsible for policy liaison with all levels of government. Until recently, he was an independent government affairs consultant, advising governments and industrial operators on environmental legislation, regulation and policy development. He has also managed government relations for Laidlaw Inc. and Tricil Ltd. Mr. Redhead holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University of British Columbia and an MBA from York University Schulich School of Business. He is Chair of the Environment Committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, as well as a past chair of the Canadian Environmental Industry Association and the Ontario Waste Management Association. He is a recipient of the Environment Canada Award of Merit and the Distinguished Service Award of the National Solid Waste Management Association.
Josée Lacourcière As Director, Government Affairs Josée is responsible for public affairs and policy liaison with all levels of government on a regional basis. Ms. Lacourcière has several years experience as a special advisor to the Quebec Minister responsible for the environment, sustainable development and parks, and to the Quebec Minister responsible for government services. Josée also has extensive experience in stakeholder relations, marketing communication and retail management in the private sector.
Gary Willson Mr. Willson is responsible for policy liaison with all levels of government in Western Canada with a special focus on Aboriginal Relations. He has over 30 years of experience in community-based environmental planning, design, development and implementation of stakeholder involvement programs, environmental and social impact assessments and regulatory affairs. Mr. Willson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Geography from the University of British Columbia and a Masters in Environmental Design from the University of Calgary. Human Resources
Stephen LeBlanc Mr. LeBlanc leads the continuous development of Human Resources focusing on leadership, talent development, succession planning and employee attraction, integration and engagement strategies. With more than 20 years of senior human resources experience, he has successfully supported organizations to further their growth and business requirements including large-scale start-ups, expansions and operational improvements. Prior to joining Newalta, Mr. LeBlanc was the Vice President, Human Resources for Cooke Aquaculture Inc. located in New Brunswick.
Dalene Friesen Ms. Friesen joined Newalta in 2004 from Deloitte & Touche in Calgary where she had been Director, Human Resources. Prior to that she was in Human Resources with BOVAR Inc. Her industry knowledge and her experience developing programs to emphasize career growth and performance enhancement make her a perfect fit for Newalta. Ms. Friesen holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and has obtained her Canadian Human Resources Professional designation. Information Technology
Andre Cyr Mr. Cyr has been with Newalta since 1994 and leads the IT Team responsible for the development and implementation of Newalta's IT strategy and IT operations throughout the organization. Mr. Cyr has more than eighteen years experience in information technologies, as well as a background in accounting management with Laidlaw Environmental Services Ltd. and Tricil Ltd. His strong knowledge of enterprise systems and their ability to support business activities has provided the foundation for Newalta's core systems today. Mr. Cyr assumed his current position in 2007 after recently completing the successful implementation of SAP throughout the organization. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario.
Bill Pearce Mr. Pearce joined Newalta in 2004 leading various IT projects such as the implementation of SAP, establishment of strong support teams, integration of acquisitions and improvement of network infrastructure. As Director of Corporate IT Services, he focuses on establishing organization-wide IT standards and practices with current and future information technologies. Mr. Pearce has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary. Investor Relations
Anne MacMicken Ms. MacMicken is the Executive Director, Investor Relations and started with us in the Calgary office in 2006. She was formerly with BFI Canada Income Fund where she was in charge of investor and employee relations for the Toronto-based waste management company. Prior to that, Ms. MacMicken provided IR consulting services to multiple clients for Ciris International and she spent time overseas as part of the Investor Relations team at HSBC Investment Bank in London, England. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria. She has completed the Canadian Securities Course and is a member of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute. Legal
Autumn Howell Ms. Howell joined Newalta in 2007. In her role as Director, Legal Counsel, she provides legal advice on various matters including continuous disclosure documents, financings, acquisitions, divestitures and commercial agreements. Prior to joining Newalta, Ms. Howell practiced with the national law firm of McCarthy Tétrault in the Calgary office with a focus on corporate and securities transactions. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Saskatchewan.
Stefan McConnell Mr. McConnell joined Newalta in 2010 as Director, Legal Counsel to provide legal advice on various matters including financings, acquisitions, divestitures, commercial agreements and continuous disclosure. Previously, he practiced corporate and securities law with a national law firm. Mr. McConnell has experience representing public and private issuers in a wide variety of financing, business combination and acquisition transactions. He holds a Bachelor or Arts degree (with distinction) in economics from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Laws degree (with distinction) from the University of Alberta. OnsiteWest
Bryne Gramlich Mr. Gramlich joined Newalta in 1993 and has held various management positions in oilfield and industrial operations. As General Manager, Onsite Solutions in Western Canada he oversees filtration, industrial cleaning and onsite opportunities with customers primarily in the heavy oil and oil sands regions. Mr. Gramlich's previous experience includes various positions in sales and operations in the oil and gas sector in Western Canada.
Mike Nerbas EastAtlantic / Ontario
Alton Payne As General Manager of Newalta's Atlantic and Ontario business segments, Mr. Payne brings 18 years of experience in the environmental services sector. He oversees operations, on-site services, sales and customer service, and advanced tank cleaning/waste processing refinery operations in these operations. His past experience includes a senior sales position with Laidlaw Environmental Services prior to becoming President of Matrix Environmental Inc., a company acquired by Newalta in 2006. Mr. Payne has a Bachelor of Science degree from Memorial University in Newfoundland. He is a co-founder of the Nova Scotia Environmental Industry Association.
Pat Carswell Mr. Carswell joined Newalta in 2004 and brought with him 20 years of experience in the oil and gas and waste management fields. As part of the Ontario Business Unit, Patrick focuses on developing market opportunities, maximizing equipment utilization and driving profitability of the Ontario Onsite and Industrial Services Group operation. Mr. Carswell has a Master of Business Administration and an Advanced Graduate Diploma in Management from Athabasca University. In addition, Patrick has a Diploma in Petroleum and Mineral Resource Management from Mount Royal. Quebec

Ronald Keenan Mr. Keenan is Regional Manager for Newalta's onsite activities in Quebec. He has more than 18 years of experience in industrial waste management and environmental services and previously held senior positions with Services Matrec Inc., Onyx Canada Inc., and Safety-Kleen Inc. David Tyson Mr. Tyson joined Newalta in 2001 and brought with him extensive experience in a broad spectrum of industrial sector Sales and Marketing positions at the national level. In his current position, he plays a pivotal role in developing and cultivating relationships with executives and senior management representing our customers, peers and competitors across North America. He is responsible for working closely with our Operations, Business Development and Technical Development teams so we are sharing knowledge across the organization and efficiently responding to business opportunities in the marketplace. Prior to joining us, Mr. Tyson was employed with Hacros Chemicals Inc., Quadra Chemicals Inc. and Bovar Waste Management. Technical Development
Rocio Alejandre Ms. Alejandre is responsible for assessing the business viability of new technologies and the preparation of associated agreements with technology providers within Newalta's Technical Development group whose mandate it is to identify, evaluate, demonstrate and pilot new technologies for commercialization to improve and expand Newalta's service capabilities. She joined Newalta in 2003 and has held the roles of Corporate Accounting Manager and Senior Advisor, Business Development. Prior to joining Newalta she held progressively responsible finance positions in the manufacturing and not-for-profit sectors including the Calgary Stampede. Ms. Alejandre holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University and has her Certified Management Accountant designation.
Stuart McCormick Mr. McCormick is Manager for Technical Development in Ontario. He has 23 years of experience in the Environmental and Waste Management industries. In addition, Stuart is recognized as a North America-wide expert in industrial by-product utilization and market development in the forest industry. Mr. McCormick holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from University of Alberta.
